Born and raised in Sudan, Amina who is now 45 years of age (at the time of the portrait experience), comes from a big family full of love. She graduated from high school and later entered university to do some studies which she did not finish due to giving birth to her eldest daughter. Amina relocated with her small family of 3 girls and her husband to Australia in 2004.
It was an entirely different life for her and her family as they struggled to build a life and adjust to a whole new, unknown country. However, that didn’t stop them from working hard to create a stable life here. She had multiple jobs along the way ranging from aged care to factory jobs and she also had her own side hustle.
She was a henna artist amongst her community for years. Over the years, she became a mother to 4 more children. With no other family members to help and support her, besides her husband, she had to juggle her work and mum life which was extremely stressful at times. Despite all the odds her and her husband managed to open a successful retail business which became well known amongst their community and later expanded into a grocery outlet as well. This supermum definitely made the most of what she was given.
