As a Perth Studio Portrait Photographer specialising in posed maternity and newborn photography, I have the incredible privilege of witnessing and capturing some of life’s most precious moments. The beauty of maternity photography is a transformative experience, filled with anticipation and joy. It is a time when a woman’s body becomes a canvas, showcasing the miracle of life. During a maternity session, I strive to create a comfortable and supportive environment, allowing expectant mothers to feel at ease. The poses I choose are not just about showcasing the bump; they are about capturing the emotion, the connection and the love that radiates from the mother-to-be. As I guide my clients through the session, I encourage them to express their feelings, allowing their personalities to shine through. The result is a collection of images that not only document the pregnancy but also encapsulate the deep bond that is forming between mother and child. Maternity sessions should be booked in the second trimester and scheduled for 32-38 weeks (this will depend on mama to be and how she feels!). Booking early ensures that you get your date reserved on the calendar!
The arrival of a newborn baby is a momentous occasion, one that deserves to be celebrated and cherished. Newborn photography is an art form that requires patience, care and a deep understanding of the delicate nature of these precious beings. We will tentatively book your newborn session into the diary as your due date and once Bub has arrived earthside, I simply have someone let me know so that I can ensure that we have an available date seven to ten days earthside for the newborn session to take place. Any later than this an Bub will be experiencing growth spurts and cluster feeding which we can still do of course but if you want the curled up sleepy poses I am know for then this is best 🙂
In my studio, I create a serene atmosphere where both parents and their newborn can feel comfortable and safe. The safety and wellbeing of the baby are my top priorities. You will be sent a guide to help you prepare for your session when you book, this is just to put your mind at ease and help you prepare for your experience; I take the time to ensure that each pose is not only aesthetically pleasing but also safe for the newborn. My approach is gentle and nurturing, allowing time for feeding, cuddling, and soothing. This creates a relaxed environment where I can capture those fleeting moments that define the early days of life; tiny fingers, curled up toes, sleepy smiles and the serene expressions. Through my lens, I strive to encapsulate the love that is a newborn baby. Each photograph is infused with warmth, showcasing the delicate features of the baby while also highlighting the bond shared with parents and siblings.
